Saya, una funda de madera para cuchillos, protege el cuchillo y a su usuario de daños y lesiones. También mantiene el cuchillo afilado y facilita su transporte. Su pasador de seguridad de madera evita que el cuchillo se salga. Saya está hecha de madera de haya, una madera firme pero lo bastante blanda, lo que la hace más duradera y resistente que cualquier funda de cuero.

La Saya de madera hecha a mano se adapta a cuchillos Santoku con dimensiones de 150-190mm (5.9"-7.5") de longitud, hasta 50mm (2.0") de anchura y un grosor en el lomo de hasta 3.5mm (0.14").

Hicimos el orificio para el pasador de seguridad aproximadamente del mismo tamaño que el ancho de los palillos de madera normales (ya sabes, esos baratos que te dan con la comida para llevar). Si pierdes el pasador de seguridad, puedes acortar fácilmente un palillo de madera y usarlo como reemplazo.

A handmade beech wood saya for santoku knives 150–190 mm (5.9"–7.5") long, up to 50 mm (2.0") wide and 3.5 mm (0.14") thick at the spine. A wooden safety pin keeps the blade securely in place.

Due to differences in knife geometry, a saya may not fit all knives, even if the blade length and type appear to match. On each knife’s product page, the compatible saya is shown - this is the one that fits that specific knife.

By far too short for a 180 mm long knife

The product is not suitable for a 180 mm blade length. The pin, the safety catch, cannot be engaged. It should be advertised as suitable up to a blade length of 170 mm.

There is still a lot of manual work involved in making Japanese knives, so there may be slight variations in the dimensions of the blades. I tested knives of the same model as you have at home and inserted them into the same wooden santoku sayo. Some of them fit, but in others the pin did not fit properly. This is a consequence of the handmade nature of the knife, where not every knife is exactly the same as the other.

On the product page (knife), we have written which sayas fit each model. For this knife, we did not list the sayas because unfortunately it does not fit every specimen. Usually, we check the suitability of each saya when sending it, but in this case we clearly missed it.
