Mcusta Petty Revolution Limited 150 mm [Ironwood] is a premium Japanese utility knife from the exclusive Revolution Limited Edition collection. Combining high-performance SG2 powder steel with a distinctive dark, etched nashiji blade finish and a natural ironwood handle, this special edition brings a more refined and luxurious character to Mcusta's popular Revolution series. Produced in very limited quantities, each knife comes in an elegant wooden box.
The 150 mm Petty features a long, narrow blade designed for precise trimming, slicing, and detailed food preparation. Its slim profile and pointed tip make it particularly useful for trimming meat, removing connective tissue, filleting smaller fish, and preparing fruit and vegetables. Lightweight and highly maneuverable, it offers excellent control for tasks where a larger chef's knife would be less practical.
BLADE SHAPE:
Petty is a small Japanese utility knife designed for precise kitchen tasks. Its narrow blade and pointed tip allow accurate cuts around bones, joints, and irregularly shaped ingredients, making it especially useful for trimming meat, removing fat and connective tissue, and preparing smaller portions of fish.
At 150 mm (5.9"), this petty offers an excellent balance between cutting length and maneuverability. The slender blade is long enough for smooth slicing motions through smaller pieces of meat and fish, yet remains compact enough for detailed work and preparing smaller ingredients.
Unlike wider all-purpose knives such as santoku or gyuto, the petty's narrow profile provides greater precision when working in tight spaces. The pointed tip is particularly useful for delicate trimming, scoring, and removing unwanted sections of meat without unnecessarily cutting into the surrounding flesh.
This makes it an excellent companion to a larger chef's knife, handling smaller, more detailed tasks with greater control. It is also suitable for certain in-hand tasks, such as peeling and shaping fruit or vegetables, with appropriate care.
STEEL:
The blade features a core of SG2 powder steel, hardened to approximately 61 HRC. This advanced stainless steel offers excellent edge retention, high wear resistance, and good corrosion resistance, allowing the blade to maintain a fine, sharp cutting edge through extended use.
The SG2 core is protected by two outer layers of softer stainless steel in a san-mai construction, providing additional support and durability.
BLADE FINISH:
One of the defining features of this Limited Edition is its dark, etched nashiji blade finish, which gives the knife a more distinctive and sophisticated appearance than the standard Revolution models. The darker blade creates an elegant contrast with the warm, natural tones of the ironwood handle.
HANDLE:
The knife features a distinctive octagonal handle made from natural ironwood, an exceptionally dense, hard, and durable wood known for its rich brown tones and beautiful grain patterns.
Its ergonomic shape provides a secure, comfortable grip and excellent control during precise cutting tasks. The natural variation in the wood grain gives each handle its own unique appearance, while the decorative mosaic pin adds a refined finishing detail.
As part of the Limited Edition collection, this knife is available in only a small number of pieces and comes in an elegant wooden presentation box, making it an excellent choice for collectors and Japanese knife enthusiasts.
