Yoshihiro Yauji

Yoshihiro Yauji was born in 1983 and developed a passion for steel tools from a young age. After over 15 years of training under Master Hideo Kitaoka, he began making knives independently in 2019, handling forging, grinding, finishing, and sharpening entirely by hand. His work combines traditional Japanese craftsmanship with meticulous personal attention to every detail.

His knives are characterized by precise heat treatment, clean geometry, and a high level of surface finishing. Particular attention is given to details often overlooked, such as the choil, spine, and transitions between finishes. Rather than pursuing bold or decorative elements, his work emphasizes balance, consistency, and refinement, resulting in knives that feel deliberate, well-resolved, and dependable in professional use.
