SharpEdge Sharpening Stone - #2000
#2000 grit whetstone is normally used for the fine sharpening, polishing and removing the burr. If you are in the habit of sharpening your knives very regularly (eg, once a week), it can also be used as a general sharpening stone on which you would start your sharpening session. But most users will use as a middle stone between a general whetstone of #400 to #1000 grit, and a more higher #3000-#6000 grit.
Due to years of experience with sharpening knives, we decided to introduce our own line of sharpening stones under our brand SharpEdge. These stones are suitable for beginners and intermediate sharpeners who need a reliable and affordable sharpening stone. There are better performing stones (less wear over time) in the market, but we find our stones offer a great price/performance ratio for those who are relatively new to knife sharpening. More experienced sharpeners will appreciate our collection of whetstones from Japanese manufacturer Naniwa.
The advantage of sharpening with a whetstone is that by using correct techniques we can achieve a remarkable sharpness of the blade, but it is necessary to learn the correct technique.
This whetstone does not include a non-slip base stand. If you dont have one, we recommend getting yourself a Stone Holder which will keep your stones from moving around. It will get on your nerves when the stone will move around your countertop during sharpening. And it's not the safest too. Wet kitchen towel can also work to put underneath the stone, but it will not keep your stone entirely fixed (and you'll end up with dirty kitchen towels).
