Sharpening Stone King - #1000/#6000
Combination sharpening stone from renowned Japanese manufacturer behind the King whetstone brand is a great and affordable choice for novice and intermediate knife sharpeners. We would recommend King's #1000/#6000 grit combination stone to owners of high-carbon steel kitchen knives (steels like Blue/Aogami, White, or ). #1000 grit is a most common, general sharpening granulation (to put a new edge on a blunt knife), while #6000 grit is a fine granulation for the finishing edge and the final polish of the blade.
If we would rank King stones, we would give it an "Economy Plus" mark, compared to the "Economy" stones (our branded stones, or Taidea stones). The main difference lies in the manufacturing process. King stones, like the "Professional" stones from Naniwa, are not just pressed, but also "baked". This reflects in less stone wear during sharpening (meaning we will have them for a longer time), but it takes slightly more experience and patience with knife sharpening, as King stone will generate less slurry than the "Economy" stones.
King combination stone includes a non-slip base stand for safer sharpening, preventing the stone from moving around.
